MOST USED ARTICLE DATABASES

These databases, listed in subject order, are the most used by students to find articles for research papers. To use the database, click on the database name, log in with the 14 digit number from your PJC ID card and the last 4 numbers of your Social Security number, then click Connect to Database. The search screen for the database will appear.

General OneFile (Gale) More Info Another excellent source of articles from a variety of reference sources including magazines, academic journals and newswires. Includes articles from The New York Times from 1995 forward. Opposing Viewpoints (Gale) More Info Presents issues in a pro/con format from a variety of sources. Viewpoint articles come from the Greenhaven Press social issues series. Also includes articles from a number of magazines, academic journals, newspapers and other reference sources. Use the tabs to select specific types of material. Citing
CQ Researcher Plus Archive (CQ Press) More Info Explores a single "hot" issue each week, ranging from social to environment, health, education, and science. 44 reports produced each year, including four expanded reports. Biography Resource Center (Gale) More Info Provides biographical information on more than 220,000 people in all disciplines and subject areas, from throughout history and around the world. Search by name, birth date, nationality, ethnicity, occupation, or other criteria. Citing

CINAHL (EBSCOhost) More Info Provides indexing for 1,835 journals from the fields of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic (EBSCOhost) More Info Provides nearly 540 scholarly full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for over 570 journals. Medline with FullText (Ebsco) More Info Full text for nearly 1,200 journals with coverage dating back to 1965. Authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care system, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine. MeSH searching available, limiting includes Journal Subset and Publication Type. Search abstracts from over 4,000 current biomedical journals. History Reference Center (EBSCOhost) More Info Provides full text from more than 750 history reference books and encyclopedias, and cover-to-cover full text from nearly 60 history magazines. Further, the database contains historical documents; biographies of historical figures; historical photos and maps; and historical film and video. Literature Resources From Gale More Info Provides biographical coverage of over 124,000 writers and critical analyses, explications and overviews of works of literature from all time periods. Contains in-depth coverage of the 2,500 most studied authors. Updated material added continuously. Citing For citing help, click on Citation Tools on the right. PsychArticles (EBSCOhost) More Info Provides full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. It contains more than 122,000 articles from 60 journals - 49 published by the American Psychological Association (APA) and 11 from allied organizations. It includes all journal articles, letters to the editor, and errata from each journal. Coverage spans 1894 to present. Uses APA's Thesaurus of Psychological Index TermsŪ.
