17 volume set that presents biographical sketches which provide vital statistics as well as information on the importance of the person listed. Available online in Biography Resource Center.

BOOK‑LENGTH BIOGRAPHIES

To locate books at PJC and other Florida Community College libraries, click on Find Books at the top of the library homepage.  Select Subject from the left of the catalog search box and enter the person’s name (last name only if name is unique) and either the word biography or interviews or diaries. Alternately, click on Browse Lists and enter the person’s last name then first name; for example, walker alice.  In the results list look for subheadings such as Biography, Interviews, Diaries, etc.  Also check the titles listed under the person’s name only (with no subheadings). Both print and ebooks are noted in the catalog.

 

Books available at the Warrington and Milton campuses, and those available at other Florida community colleges, can be sent to the Pensacola campus by clicking on the location of the book and using the Request option. LIBRARY ONLINE SOURCES

To access the library’s online sources, click on the Most Used Article Databases on the left of the homepage. Select the appropriate database. Login is automatic from the library computers.  From remote computers, it is necessary to log in by: 1) selecting Pensacola Junior College from the drop-down menu; 2) typing the 14-digit PJC photo ID barcode number in the Borrower ID box; 3) typing the last four digits of your Social Security number into the PIN box. 

 

Biography Resource Center

A comprehensive, full-text, biographical reference database covering a wide variety of subjects.  Users may search by name, birth date, nationality, ethnicity, occupation, or other criteria.  Material is arranged by tabs. Biography and Brief Biography tabbed material includes some citing assistance at the end of the page. The Magazine and News tabbed material does not. Use citing guidelines to correctly cite sources.

 

Literary Resources from Gale

Provides biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers. Contains in-depth coverage of the 2,500 most-studied authors.  For citing help, click on Citation Tools on the right. Select appropriate format, click Save, then Open or Save.

 

Academic Search Complete

Multidisciplinary source of articles from magazines and scholarly (peer reviewed) journals.  Includes abstracts (summaries) of most articles. To limit to full-text articles only, check the appropriate box.  Advanced Search provides a guided method for combining keywords. Citing assistance is provided at the record level by clicking on the small yellow page icon in the upper right.
