One Laptop Per Child

It has taken more than two years, but the One Laptop Per Child initiative has finally released its much-anticipated laptop: the OLPC XO-1.


The XO-1 costs $200 each to donate, but for a limited time — until Dec. 31, 2007 — people can avail themselves of the "Give One, Get One" promotion to give a $399 donation ($200 of which is tax-deductible).

The World's Tallest Building

The Burj Dubai will be the world's tallest building when completed in late 2008. On September 12, 2007 it became the world's tallest free standing structure at 1,822 feet. The projected final height of the building is being kept a secret but is believed to be around 2, 684 feet (half a mile high). Check out the Burj Dubai website.
